J.B. Brown's 3-pointer hit off the rim as Etta Dale Junior High's eighth-grade boys basketball team suffered a close 45-42 road loss to Shawnee.
El Reno trailed 13-7 after one period, 15-9 at the half and 24-19 after three stanzas. However, in the final period the Indians cranked out 23 points to close the gap to three points.
“We put on a great rally in the fourth quarter with our full-court press,” El Reno head coach Ken Posey said. “I was proud of the team play, hustle and pressure, but we missed nine layups in the first half.”
Brown ended the game with 12 points and eight rebounds, followed by Ben Seger with 10 points and six rebounds. Sage Lamebull had five points and seven boards, while Bailey Denny chipped in five points.
Eian Colbert finished with four points, followed by Mason Ross, Demain Olive and Trey Burton with two points each. Olive and Burton grabbed three boards each.
