Questions surround casino abduction

After more than 12 hours of protocols and paperwork, a man arrested in connection with a car theft and child abduction at Lucky Star Casino was turned over Tuesday to the Canadian County Sheriff’s Department.

Oklahoma City police arrested Daniel Lee Green, 29, of Jones on Monday morning, hours after a pickup truck was reported stolen from the parking lot of Lucky Star Casino in Concho, according to investigators. Alysia Lopez, 3, was asleep in the vehicle when it was taken, reports state.

Canadian County Sheriff Louis Hawkins said his department got a call about the theft around 3:45 a.m. Monday. The department normally doesn’t respond to calls originating on tribal land, Hawkins said, but “we responded to the call due to its nature.” The department posted an Amber Alert around 6 a.m.

A resident spotted the vehicle at I-40 and Peebly Road around 7 a.m., according to reports. Oklahoma Highway Patrol troopers responded and found the girl unharmed inside. She was taken to OU Medical Center for observation and released to the Canadian County Department of Human Services, Hawkins said.

Hawkins said the child’s grandfather, Douglas Allen Gray, 49, of Kingfisher had custody of the girl. Gray arrived at the casino shortly after 2 a.m. Monday, Hawkins said.

Video surveillance showed a man matching Green’s description getting into Gray’s vehicle around 3:13 a.m., according to the incident report.
