Hot temperatures and gusting winds greeted some of the state’s best young golfers Tuesday to the opening day of the 2006 Lloyd Moody Junior Golf Classic at Crimson Creek Golf Club. While the breeze kept most of the scores higher than normal, El Reno High School golfers Leilani Gradle and Madison Haley were able to pick up qualifying points toward the summer-ending championship tourney on the PGA Junior South Central Section Tour.

El Reno High School’s summer baseball team put on a bunting clinic Tuesday night to split a doubleheader with Heritage Hall, winning the nightcap by a 5-2 score.

Canadian County Health Department will be distributing free mosquito larvicide at both the Yukon and El Reno offices between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday while the supply lasts.
