El Reno bounced back from a 9-1 loss to Cleveland on Wednesday with a strong outing against Class 4A second-ranked Oologah on Thursday during tournament play at Deer Creek High School.
The Indians defeated the Mustangs 13-8 behind a win from senior pitcher Trendon Johnson.
Head coach Jason Looper’s club dropped the final game of tournament play to Miami, 13-1.
El Reno will return to Suburban Conference action Monday with a road game at Western Heights. The two teams will hook up again on Tuesday afternoon at Hub Reed Complex.

El Reno senior Chris Hacker has been nominated for the Dave Schultz High School Excellence Award, which honors the premier student-wrestler in the country.
One wrestler from each state is chosen, before one national winner is selected. The national winner will be announced in June at the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in Stillwater.
The award winner last year was David Craig of Brandon High School, Brandon, Fla. The recipient is honored for outstanding wrestling achievement, scholastic achievements and citizenship.
