Ambulance subsidy approved

By Daniel Lapham/Staff Writer
The El Reno City Council agreed to pay a quarterly subsidy payment of $75,000 to Parkview Hospital on Tuesday.
Council unanimously agreed to give the subsidy to support continued operation of the ambulance service.
The approval came several weeks after Mayor Matt White and the Council agreed to postpone authorization of the payment. At the time some on the Council expressed frustration with the hospital’s administration.
“I think at this point in time we need to go ahead and pay them,” White said.

On June 26, the El Reno Chamber of Commerce will sponsor its biggest event of the year. This annual fundraising event will be held at the Palace Event Center, about one-fourth mile south of Banner School.
“It’s our biggest fundraiser and really it’s our only fundraiser,” said Karmon Stanley, El Reno chamber director.
“We expect about 250 people to attend,” she said.
Vince Orza, chair of the Oklahoma City University School of Business, will be the featured speaker.

Justice center staff to get working space

By Tracy Chapman/Staff Writer

Staff “crammed in everywhere” at the Canadian County Children’s Justice Center could see some relief, as officials moved forward Monday with plans to expand the center.
The 8,800-square-foot addition of office space — with an estimated price tag of about $1.5 million — would provide offices for about 19 employees, director Joan South said. Those employees, all working in the behavioral health services and comprehensive home-based services departments, are unable to operate at “peak efficiency” because of their office situations, she said.
