Funeral services for Bertha E. Wilkowske of El Reno were held Thursday, Aug. 21 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Rev. Donald Hefta officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Last Monday, the first day of school in El Reno, Superintendent Ranet Tippens was riding a bus going to Hillcrest.

Riding alongside her was Lyna McGabok, a kindergarten student.

As the bus rolled to a stop, the little girl looked outside the window.

“Oh, boy,” she exclaimed, “they’re all gonna be my size.”

The growth El Reno City Manager Tony Rivera sees coming to the community has led him to search for a full-time engineer.

Rivera said adding an engineer to the city staff is part of a complete reorganization of some city departments and personnel responsibilities. The plan, Rivera said, has been in the works for several months.

“We are redoing our entire structure for one reason and that is to better serve the public health and safety of our citizens,” Rivera said.
