Tribe beats Anadarko to garner third-place honorsBy Rex Hogan/Staff Writer ANADARKO — It was a tough loss for El Reno High School’s boys basketball team in the semifinals at the 2008 Warrior Classic. However, there was a reason for optimism, head coach Rodney Haydon said. The boys bounced back to beat Class 4A’s seventh-ranked and tournament host Anadarko, 67-58, for third place. “It was good to see how we responded after a tough loss. We needed a win to keep some momentum going,” Haydon said. Senior center Taylor Wedman led the scoring attack against the Warriors, scoring 20 points. Junior forward Fayzon Richey added 19 and senior guard Jared Krittenbrink tossed in 14 points. Other scorers were Thad Palmer with eight points, Chris Billbury with four and Jordan Webb with two points. The Indians are now 10-3 on the season and are ranked 12th in the most recent Class 5A Oklahoma coaches poll. |
