El Reno continued its winning ways in preseason basketball action last week.

The Indians upended both Class 6A preseason No. 10 Norman and 5A, fifth-ranked Lawton MacArthur in scrimmages to stay unbeaten. Fourth-year head coach Rodney Haydon and the Indians will conclude preseason play on Tuesday when they matchup against both Enid and Mount St. Mary at Jenks Simmons Field House.

El Reno edged Lawton Mac by three points, 89-86, during a four-quarter scrimmage.

Junior guard Fayzon Richey poured in 29 points to lead El Reno, while senior forward Taylor Wedman followed with 20 points. Richey finished by shooting 7-of-13 overall from the floor and was good on five of his eight 3-point attempts. Wedman was 10-of-15 overall.

The Indians, who will take their preseason No. 15 ranking to No. 10 Chickasha for the season opener on Tuesday, Nov. 27, also received double-figure scoring from Thad Palmer with 10 points.

“Lawton Mac is a great team and we were able to go out and play really well,” Haydon said. “We have been competing hard and continue to improve, but we still have areas that we can be better.
