Because of bricks, El Reno baseball players could be getting a big boost in their hitting and fielding skills.

The El Reno Dugout Club, a booster group for high school baseball, is in the middle of a project to raise some $8,000 to $10,000.

Also, the Mary K. Ashbrook Foundation has promised to kick in another $20,000 to $25,000 for the project.

Head El Reno baseball coach Jason Looper said the fundraising effort will generate significant facility improvements.

Looper said the project would mean larger indoor hitting facilities and improved locker and coaches rooms at the field.

“We already have a hitting facility, but the plans are to double the facility. We have a full-length cage, what we’d like is to add another two, full-length tunnels. We could divide one in half and have three guys hitting at once.
