After more than five years of planning and building, Canadian County’s Youth and Family Services is “Finally Home” and they are celebrating with a grand opening at 2 p.m. Thursday.

Tracy Baustert, YFS assistant director, said the counseling service will have two different things planned for the grand opening.

“At 11 a.m. we have invited our donors that gave $20,000 or more to join us for a private lunch and tour,” she said. “Then at 2 p.m. we will have our general assembly with tours and a presentation.”

The presentation will feature speakers including Sen. Mike Johnson, R-Kingfisher, Rep. Susan Winchester, R-Chickasha, Rep. Colby Schwartz, R-Yukon, Judge Gary Miller, YFS board president Jon Miller and YFS director Dee Blose.

“We will have a Kiowa tribal blessing from tribal member Melinda Miles and we will have a flag salute by a representative from the Boy Scouts of America,” Baustert said.
