Indians hoping to finish season strongBy Byron Beers/Staff Writer Following its first victory of the season last week against Harrah, El Reno can look forward to a potentially strong finish to the 2007 campaign. The Indians will face a pair of teams that have combined for two wins over the final two weeks in Southeast and John Marshall, hoping they can find a way to salvage some momentum and give them something they can hang their hats on going into next season. El Reno will travel to play Southeast (2-6 overall and 1-4 in District 5A-2) for its second straight Thursday night game. The two schools will play at Speegle Stadium in Oklahoma City. The Indians will close the season against John Marshall next week at Memorial Stadium. Southeast’s two victories have come against Class 6A U.S. Grant in week one and against John Marshall last week. The Spartans defeated the Bears 32-24. The Indians easily played their most complete game of the year in the 16-7 win over Harrah. El Reno (1-7, 1-4) got good balance in its running game with sophomore quarterback Jakeil Everheart, sophomore running back Cory Dauphin and senior running back C.J. Raney. The trio combined to rush for 178 yards and averaged over 4 yards per carry. It looked like last year all over again for Raney. He rushed for 48 yards on nine carries and scored both El Reno touchdowns. |
