Girls hoopsters not intimidated by double dose of away games

Going on the road for two games in a 24-hour period is tough for any basketball team to handle.

However, mix in the fact your squad has not played in two weeks and both games are key conference outings and you can see the dilemma facing El Reno High School’s girls basketball team.

The Indians return to the court Friday night at Western Heights to face an improving Jets squad, before hitting the road Saturday for a makeup game with Deer Creek. Both games are Sub-urban Conference Western Division outings, with El Reno sitting at 1-0 in the division.

“Our goal is to win this side of the conference and I feel like we are the best team on this side,” El Reno head coach Eric Carr said. “So we need to go out and take care of business.”

Carr said he doesn’t mind playing both early games on the road.

“I’d like to say we play better at home, but I think we shoot the ball better on the road at times,” Carr said. “I don’t mind going on the road and neither do the kids. I think we play better on the road, so that’s not a big concern of mine.”
