Pair competing for mayoral postBy Carolyn Cole/Staff Writer El Reno voters will head to the polls Nov. 13 to choose a mayor — Mark Gilmore or Matt White. Gilmore and White are vying to fill a position held by James Moore, who said he decided not to run because of health and family reasons. “I'm just kind of tired and my health has kind of gone downhill. I’ll be 74 and I'm not as sharp as I used to be,” he said earlier this year. Moore was re-elected to the seat three years ago in an election that drew about 1,885 voters. Both contenders are lifetime El Reno residents and businessmen. White is a former city councilman, owns McConnell Construction and recently renovated the Uptown Downtown meeting hall. Gilmore serves as vice mayor and owns Gilmore’s Pub and Barefoot Bar. |
