Council, hospital officials to discuss ambulance subsidy
El Reno City Council and Parkview Hospital will meet jointly at 6:30 p.m. Thursday in the hospital conference room.
The purpose is to iron out the amount of subsidy, if any, the city will provide to the hospital to bolster the financially ailing ambulance service. Parkview officials say the service is in need of additional and ongoing subsidy from the city. During this fiscal year, the city provided a $250,000 subsidy.
The ambulance service lost $565,000 for fiscal year that ended June 30, 2006. Hospital trustees have said unless financial help arrives, the service will close on July 1.
