7 p.m. Thursday: Workshop on gang recognition

Jan 25 2007 - 7:00pm
El Reno Public Schools safe schools initiative will sponsor a series of informational meetings for parents and other school patrons in the coming months in the El Reno High School auditorium. In the first of the series, Greg Meeks, El Reno Police Department school resources officer, and Justin Smith, juvenile officer at the Gary E. Miller Canadian County Children’s Justice Center, will present a workshop on gang recognition. The public is encouraged to attend the session to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday in the auditorium. Safe Schools Director Lonnie Hamilton said the workshop is one of several planned to bring public awareness of the need for safer schools and healthier students. “We’re going to try and have one every month on the different issues that parents are interested in and concerned about. Succeeding months we’ll touch on such topics as smoking and drugs,” he said.
