February is American Heart Month. While the immunological benefits of human milk for the infant are well-known, there is also evidence that there are lifelong benefits for the child related to weight control, blood pressure and blood lipids. Expectant and new mothers can learn more about breastfeeding at the Mustang/Yukon La Leche League meeting at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Chisholm Trail Presbyterian Church, 801 W. Vandament in Yukon. Discussion will include the latest medical research as well as personal experiences. Mothers with their nursing babies and mothers-to-be are welcome.
