8 a.m. Friday: Chamber of Commerce legislative coffee

Rep. James Covey, D-Custer City, will be guest speaker at the Chamber of Commerce legislative coffee at 8 a.m. Friday. The coffees are held in the Gold Room of the Canadian County Health Department, 100 N. Rock Island. Covey represents District 57 in the state House of Representatives. He will provide an update on legislative action taken thus far in the 2007 session. A farmer-rancher, Covey was first elected to the House in 1996. Extending across Covey’s county of Custer to include Blaine and Canadian counties, District 57 encompasses most of northern Canadian County and the north and east edge of El Reno, north from Foreman Road and east of U.S. 81. Garth Brooks Boulevard in Yukon is the district’s eastern boundary to the south. The boundary line extends to the northeast as far as Piedmont.
