The Canadian County Democrats will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Canadian Valley Technology Center to elect chairs, vice chairs and secretaries for 52 neighborhood precincts. The meeting will be held at the west end of the facility in the conference center. A silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. before the meeting is called to order at 7 p.m. “Our goal is to fill every office in every precinct,” county chair Jody Harlan said, “but with more than 50 precincts in the county, we always have open precincts in need of officers.” The regular monthly meeting, normally on the second Tuesday of the month, will not be held for March. The county convention is set for 10 a.m. to noon March 31 at the George Fina Municipal Building, 314 Edmond Road NW in Piedmont. County officers and delegates will be elected to represent the county at district and state conventions. Only those elected at the precinct meetings will have voting privileges. The county chair, vice chair, secretary and eight delegates elected at the county convention will represent county Democrats at the 3rd Congres-sional District Convention on April 28. Two elected delegates will represent the county at the 4th Congressional Convention on the same date. The officers and all the delegates will participate in the Democratic State Convention on May 19.
