6 p.m. Friday: National Wild Turkey Federation banquet

Mar 23 2007 - 6:00pm
There will be plenty to gobble about March 23 as a new Canadian County chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation holds a banquet, the first of such dinners organizers hope to hold each year. Jerry McNeil, of the Canadian Valley Lonesome Hen Chapter, said the event will kick off at 6 p.m. at Mustang’s Town Center and feature door prizes, a meal and an auction. The public can purchase tickets to the event and corporate sponsorships are available. Cost of tickets are $50 for a couple and $40 for an individual. McNeil said no alcohol will be served at the banquet and the group plans to make it an annual event. The NWTF is a nonprofit organization with 545,000 members in 50 states, Canada, Mexico and 14 other foreign countries. It supports scientific wildlife management on public, private and corporate lands as well as wild turkey hunting as a traditional sport.
