Bowling, Lydia
A memorial service for Lydia Christine Bowling of Dallas will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at El Reno First Baptist Church with Mike McGee of Oklahoma City officiating. Burial will be in the El Reno Cemetery under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Bowling died Saturday at Baylor University Medical Center in Dallas. She was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Manning, Ark. She graduated from El Reno High School in 1941. While a homemaker most of her married life, Mrs. Bowling was working as society editor of The El Reno Tribune at the time of her marriage. The couple moved to Harrisburg in the early 1950s and she worked for a time as secretary of the Poinsett County Health Office. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Harrisburg where she served as assistant choir director and lead vocalist.

She is survived by her husband, Clinton; a daughter, Cynthia Bowling of Denver, Colo.; a son, Ken Bowling of Dallas, Texas; sister, Dortha Quimby of Wichita, Kan.; four granddaughters and three great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Paul R. Lynn will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday in the Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Dr. Burrel McNaught officiating. Burial will be in the Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Oklahoma City. Services are under direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home

Mr. Lynn died March 23, 2007, at Sunset Estates in El Reno. He was born Oct. 26, 1921, in Green Forest, Ark. He lived most of his life in El Reno. He was a diesel electrician retired from the Rock Island Railroad with 31 years of service. He worked in a Civilian Conservation Corps camp for two years. He was an Army veteran of World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge and was a prisoner of war. He was a member of American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Ex-Prisoners of War.

He married Evelyn McMasters on April 7, 1942. She preceded him in death on July 20, 1996. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Lillie Belle (Varner) Lynn, three brothers and three sisters.

He is survived by the woman he loved, Helen Huisman of the home; a daughter, Sharon Kay Garrett and husband, Winfred of El Reno; stepdaughter, Pamela Bennett and husband, Bob of Portland, Ore.; grandchildren, Tammy Morris of Yukon, Justin Paul Garrett and Shelby of Watonga and Mindy Jo Garrett and Donnie of El Reno; great-grandchildren, Ivie, Audrina, Hailey and Jeremy; and a niece, Bonnie Lynn of El Reno.
