Oklahoma Democrats and friends are invited to hear Oklahoma military veteran and retired diplomat Hal Spake at the next Canadian County Democrats meeting at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

The Democrats meet at Canadian Valley Technology Center, 6505 E. Highway 66 between Yukon and El Reno.

A candidate for Congressional District 4 representative in 2006, Spake served more than 22 years in the U.S. diplomatic service, managing million-dollar budgets and nationwide information technology systems in the Middle East, South Africa and other regions.

His presentation to the Canadian County Democrats will focus on the Iraq War and strategies for “stabilizing the country, preserving the democracy, defanging the insurgency and closing the spigot on terrorist recruitment.”
