Obituaries for Jan. 15Brown, Billy Ray Mr. Brown died Thursday in El Reno. He was born Oct. 29, 1925, in Minco and had lived in the Minco community all his life. He worked as a maintenance man for Minco High School for many years. He retired from the Minco Gas Authority after 20 years service. He was a member of First Baptist Church and Minco Volunteer Fire Department and served on the board of Grady County Farmers Union. He is survived by his wife, Devieu of the home; a daughter, Annecia Pinkston of Oklahoma City; and three grandchildren. Robbins, Gladys Mae (paid) Mrs. Robbins died Jan. 12, 2006, at Lackey Manor in Oklahoma City. She was born Feb. 7, 1913, north of El Reno to Arthur and Hattie (Wiedman) Cook. She had attended Mennonville School north of El Reno. She married Lewis T. Robbins and they made their home in California where she resided for 50 years until she moved to El Reno in the mid-1990s. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis T. Robbins; parents, Arthur and Hattie Cook; sisters, Mabel Barcus, Ruth Cook, Verna Rogers, Elinore Cook and Violet Cook; brothers, Carroll (Buck) Cook, Charles Cook, Vernon Cook, Howard Cook, Leroy Cook and Beryl Cook. She is survived by her sisters, Nelda Funck of El Reno and Georgia Vieweg of Union City, and sister-in-law, Vonda Cook of El Reno. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. The family suggest memorials be made to Mobile Meals of El Reno, P.O. Box 879, El Reno, 73036. Smith, Willis D. (paid) Mr. Smith died Jan. 10, 2006, at his home. He was born Jan. 14, 1938, in Sisseton, S.D., the son of Ferdie and Anna (Pavak) Smith. He recently returned to El Reno after living in Union City and Fort Gibson. He married Patricia Ann Seely on April 24, 1961. He was a sheet metal worker. He and his wife owned and operated the Grand River Café at Fort Gibson Lake from 1986 to 1996. He was a volunteer fireman in Norwood and a member of the Norwood Lake View Baptist Church. He read his Bible every morning and enjoyed fishing. He is survived by sons, Jim Seely of El Reno and Lonny Smith and wife, Mary of Tuttle; daughters, Donna Rosenbaum and husband, Paul of El Reno, Laura Smith of El Reno and Jody Gratz and husband, Rob of Austin, Texas; brothers, Darrell Smith and wife, Lois of Fort Gibson and Galen Smith of Vallejo, Calif.; 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Viewg, Dorothy (paid) Mrs. Vieweg died Thursday, Jan. 12, 2006, at her home. She was born May 30, 1930, in Hinton to her parents, Carl and Christina (Graham) Thomas. She attended school in Hinton and Binger. She worked as a nurses aide for Parkview Hospital for 35 years before retiring. She had resided in El Reno for 50 years and was a member of the American Legion and VFW. She loved to read. She married William “Bill” Whitehead on Aug. 12, 1956, in Tijuana. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Christina Thomas, and a brother, Jimmy Thomas. She is survived by her husband, Albert P. Vieweg Jr. of the home; daughters, Pam Whitehead of El Reno and Cindy Whitehead of Oklahoma City; brothers, J.C. Thomas and wife, Esther of El Reno and Gene Thomas and wife, Sharlyn of Harrah; and one granddaughter, Courtney Whitehead of El Reno. The family has suggested memorials be made to St. Jude Medical Center Memorial and Honor Program, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, Tenn. 38105. |
