Atwood, Della A. (paid)
Family services for Della A. Atwood are pending with Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Atwood died Jan. 30, 2006, at Grace Living Center in El Reno. She was born to George L. Scull and Jennie E. Smith on April 22, 1915, in Dexter, Kan.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, Virgil, her son, Virgil Glen Jr., and grandson, Kevin Keller.

Della is survived by her two children, Kenneth Atwood and wife, Ann of Wichita, Kan., and Glenda DeSantis and husband, Paul of El Reno; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and many grand-pets.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Sacred Heart School, 210 S. Evans, El Reno 73036.

Bush, Ray M. (paid)
Memorial services for Ray M. Rush of El Reno will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at Wesley United Methodist Church with Rev. Rick Cato officiating. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Rush died Monday, Jan. 30, 2006, at Parkview Hospital. He was born to Lottie Harris and was named Carl Eugene Harris before he was adopted and changed his name to Ray Myles Rush.

Ray was a graduate of Classen High School. He came to El Reno in 1961 when he bought Ranger Motel. He married Roberta Halbert on Jan. 6, 1968, in El Reno. He was retired from the Municipal Court Clerk’s Office and was retired as director of Civil Defense after 20 years service. Mr. Rush was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church, a life member of the Hart County, Kentucky, Historical Society and Canadian County Gene-alogical Society, founder of Mac Alpine Family Society and was a lieutenant colonel for the Civil Air Patrol.

Survivors include his wife, Roberta (Halbert) Rush of the home; a son, James Rush and wife, Gina of Oklahoma City; daughters, Rebecca Searcy and husband, Bryan of Harrah, Ruth Miller of Oklahoma City, Joyce Springer and husband, Larry of El Reno and Jo Ellen Rush and partner, Don Muir of Arcadia; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Kelley, Ernest G. (paid)
Funeral services for Ernest G. Kelley will be held on Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Father Frances Nguyen of Sacred Heart Catholic Church officiating. Interment will be in the El Reno Cemetery.

Mr. Kelley was born May 17, 1917, in Jacksonville, Ill., to Ernest and Lula (Johnson) Kelley. He died Tuesday, Jan. 31, 2006, at Parkview Hospital. Ernest married Grace Ogden-Polak on July 2, 1978, in Yukon. He moved to El Reno in 1981. He was a retired truck driver. He loved working in the yard, feeding the birds and the neighbor’s dogs.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two daughters, Beverly and Michelle, two sisters and a brother.

He is survived by his wife, Grace (Ogden-Polak) Kelley of the home; daughters, Barbara Strongman and husband, Dennis, and Bonnie Coons, all of Springfield, Ill.; stepdaughters, Eileen Cullen and husband, Mike of El Reno and Grace Darmiento and husband, John of Suffern, N.Y.; stepsons, Richard Polak and wife, Teri of Marshall, N.C., and Phillip Polak of Houston, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Sawallisch, Dora (paid)
Graveside services for Dora Sawallisch, 94, of Orange City, Fla., were held Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006, in the El Reno Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Jeff Knighton, pastor of First Christian Church officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Sawallisch died Jan. 26, 2006, at Majestic Oaks at John Knox Village in Orange City.

Survivors include her daughter, Carol Vardeman and husband, William W. of Gainesville, Va.; four grandchildren, William, Peter and David Vardeman and Delia Dorn; and eight great-grandchildren, Katharine, William Alan, Hallie and Emma Vardeman, Janelle and Taylor Dorn and Jessica and Jarod Curtis.

She will be greatly missed by her loving family, many nieces and nephews and friends.

Born in Linwood, Mich., on May 12, 1911, she grew up speaking French and maintained her skills throughout her life. After high school she went to work for the telephone company and in 1932 moved to Washington, D.C., where she served as an interpreter and arranged transatlantic conference calls for federal officials. During and after World War II she worked for the Navy Department in Miami, Key West and Washington, D.C. When she retired in 1965, she was a Navy foreign military sales analyst.

Her passion was travel. Her hobby was crafts. She traveled throughout the world, including a four-month around the world trip on a freighter. On Sept. 11, 2001, she was traveling alone in Switzerland and was stranded until flights resumed to the United States. Combining travel and crafts, she taught shipboard craft classes for several cruise lines for 15 years. In 2003, she moved from Boynton Beach, Fla., to John Knox Village in Orange City where she continued to be active in teaching crafts.

Von Tungeln, Wayne (paid)
Wayne Von Tungeln was born on the 23rd day of January, 1935, near El Reno, and passed away on the 28th day of January, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his father, Harry Von Tungeln, and his son, Brad Alan Von Tungeln.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Alice Marie. He is also survived by his son and daughter and their families, son, Doug and wife, Jamie, and their four children, Steven Von Tungeln and wife, Christy of McKinney, Texas, Laura and husband, Brad Mitchell and daughter, Mallie Marie of Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada, Lindsey Von Tungeln of Oklahoma City and Bradley Wayne Von Tungeln of El Reno; daughter, Karen and husband, Bob Wolf and their children, Jordan, Alan and Erin Wolf, and Bob’s sons, Jeff and Rusty Wolf. He is also survived by his mother, Selma Von Tungeln; one brother, Jerry Von Tungeln and wife, Orbie of Corpus Christi, Texas, and their children; one sister, Lois Myers and daughter, Meredith and her husband, Marco Morrow, and their daughters; and a host of other nieces, nephews, other family and friends.

All who knew Wayne recognized him as a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. The welfare of each child and grandchild was vitally important to him. He had a genuine interest in each of them and their lives.

Wayne attended elementary school, junior high and high school in El Reno, where he played football and was a member of the FFA. In 1954, Wayne was a recipient of the State Teenage Driver’s Contest and won a trip to Washington, D.C. He attended Oklahoma A&M College, now Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, and was in the ROTC. After returning home, he began working for OG&E and farming. Wayne and Alice were married June 12, 1955, at First Christian Church in El Reno. In 1967, Wayne began working for the Federal Prison Industries, now UNICOR, where he received several superior sustained performance awards and retired from there in 1987. After his retirement from UNICOR, Wayne continued farming and worked several years selling cars, trucks, boats and motorcycles for Thompson Motor Co.

During his life, Wayne participated in many civic, school and church activities and organizations. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and was a member of the church board for two years. Wayne enjoyed participating in all of his children’s activities including coaching Little League football when his sons were involved.

Wayne was a “people person,” a hard worker who was happiest while working and enjoyed helping others. Many people will miss him and his contagious smile.

Services were held in his honor at Wesley United Methodist Church on Tuesday, the 31st day of January, 2006, with Dr. Richard D. Cato and Dr. Burrel McNaught officiating. Burial was in the El Reno Cemetery. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

The family has suggested donations be made to the Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, (c/o heart disease research), or Wesley United Methodist Church, 101 S. Barker, El Reno, or a charity of choice.
