Indians lose two to Carl Albert

The El Reno High School basketball squads both suffered setbacks to the Carl Albert Titans Tuesday.

El Reno’s girls team fell 63-46 to the Titans.

The Indians led in the opening quarter, but were outscored in the following three periods.

“We were outplayed in the second half. Carl Albert came out with a different level of intensity than the first half and we didn’t match it,” head coach Eric Carr said.

Britney Nuzum led the Indians in scoring with 15 points. Senior Aubrey Blackwolf picked up nine points, freshman Kristin Horse tossed in seven and senior Jaclyn Rhoades picked up six.

Tana Ramsey contributed five points and Kyzni Bollinger and Angelique Johnson each tossed in two points.

“Carl Albert came out and hit shots early in the second half and we couldn’t buy a bucket.

It was a disappointing loss because once we got down, I felt like my kids quit believing we could win and it showed in their effort and intensity,” Carr said.

Rodney Haydon’s boys squad lost 70-53 to the Titans.

Carl Albert opened the game with an early lead and held a 10-point advantage at the half.

The Indians outscored the Titans 12-11 in the third period, but the Titans rallied in the final quarter.

Corey Standerfer led the team with 13 points. Glenn Wedman picked up 12 points to round out the scorers in double digits.

Todd Palmer led those scorers in single digits with eight. Eric Palmer tossed in seven points and Will Stiles picked up five.

Jared Krittenbrink and Fayzon Richey each had four points in the contest.

“We had 19 turnovers. They hit 12 threes. We didn’t handle the press well,” Haydon said.
