JV girls pick up eleventh win, varsity loses in last home game ‘dogfight’By Audrey Dodgen/Staff Writer The El Reno High School girls junior varsity basketball squad battled for their eleventh win of the season over the Chickasha Fightin’ Chicks Friday. Megan Martin led the team with ten points. Angelique Johnson and Andrea Dyer each picked up five points in the win. Ashlee Brittain, Heather Horse and Kristin Horse all tossed in four points. Senior Victoria Farmer had two. “I’m really proud of Megan Martin tonight,” coach Corinn Allen said. “She has been practicing really hard, and it paid off with the way she played.” Allen said the team is happy to have avenged an earlier loss to the Chicks. Chickasha 34, El Reno 32 The varsity girls squad dropped a two point game to the Chicks, 34-32. “This was really a dogfight kind of game,” head coach Eric Carr said. “We just couldn’t get over that hump, couldn’t get out and hold the lead.” Carr said poor shooting in the fourth period hampered his team’s ability to keep the lead. Freshman Kristin Horse led the team in scoring with 12 points. Senior Jaclyn Rhoades followed with nine points, and senior Aubrey Blackwolf picked up eight. Farmer had two points in the varsity game and Kyzni Bollinger had one. |
