Redland Cougars sweep Northern Oklahoma on diamondJumping into Bi-State Conference play Thursday afternoon, Redlands Community College’s baseball team pounded out 26 hits in a doubleheader sweep of Northern Oklahoma College of Enid. Redlands, now 16-14 on the year and 2-0 in league standings, took the first game by a 13-3 decision. The Cougars backed it up with a 10-7 victory, tagging NOC pitching for 13 hits in each game. In the 10-run win, Redlands snapped a 3-all tie with four runs in the fourth inning, one in the fifth and five runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. The Cougars took advantage of five errors from the visitors along with doubles from Dean McIntyre, Nate McClellan, Chandler Boyce, Johnny Molina, Graham Bintliff and Justin Pennell. Redlands hit .464 as a team, with McIntyre going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and two RBIs. Boyce added two hits to the mix as did Pennell and Bintliff. Pennell drove in three runs and scored once. Michael Pollock and Robbie Martin had a hit each. Brett Flemming went six full innings for the run-rule victory, allowing three runs off three hits. He struck out one and walked none in 23 batters faced. Pennell made 11 putouts behind the pitcher, while Boyce added three and Poulter had two. Randell Shrouder picked up the win in the three-run decision, working 4 2/3 innings. He allowed four earned runs off six hits and four walks, while fanning four batters. Reece Dodd came on to pitch the final 2 1/3 innings to get the save, issuing three runs off six hits and no walks. He struck out three. Pollock led the Cougars at the plate with a 3-for-3 effort, including three doubles, two RBIs and a pair of runs scored. Molina doubled in the game and Sammy Lee tripled. Pennell had a two-run home run for his lone hit. Redlands batted .500 for the game, with McIntyre, McClellan, Molina and Lee having two hits each. Boyce added a single to the combination of hits. Split with Texans In the win, Redlands went 10-of-28 from the plate. Pollock and McIntyre doubled in the effort and Pennell hit a home run. Pennell went 3-for-4 from the plate with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs. McClellan and Pollock added two hits each to go along with singles from Molina and Miguel De los Santos. Redlands used a three-pitcher rotation, with Chase Baran getting the win. Baran scattered nine hits and three runs over six innings, fanning four and walking one. Dodd threw two innings, striking out two of the six batters faced. Aaron Chong allowed one run off a hit and walk in the five batters he faced. Kyle Moloney shouldered the loss in the two-run setback, allowing five runs, four walks and two hits in the five batters he faced. El Reno native Ross Ashley gave up one run off five hits and a walk over 4 2/3 innings, striking out one. Dodd threw one inning in relief, fanning one of the two batters he faced. Redlands had only three hits, including solo homers by McIntyre and McClellan. Poulter added an RBI-single. |
