Oklahombres spring rendezvousApr 28 2006 - 7:00pm Comfort Inn in El Reno Oklahombres is an organization that studies the lawman and outlaw history of Oklahoma. Among the speakers at this event will be Bob Ernst, Stillwater, Oklahoma, “An Oklahoma Gangster;” Bob Alexander, Maypearl, Texas, “Tom D. Love and the Capture of Bill Cook;” Mike Tower, Elmore City, Oklahoma, “The Gypsy Rustlers,” and Roy Young, Apache, Oklahoma, “Wyatt Earp, Outlaw of the Indian Nations.” Young is president of Oklahombres. The meeting will open with a Friday evening reception at 7 p.m. at Comfort Inn. Activities will continue on Saturday. Registration begins at 8:30 in Comfort Inn meeting room with the program running from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. A brief afternoon business meeting will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. followed an historical sites tour from 2 to 5 p.m. Tour sites to include: Chris Madsen’s and Ben Clark’s graves, Fort Reno guardhouse and Fort Reno and various El Reno historical sites. Door prizes will be given every hour during the Saturday morning session including a first edition of E. D. Nix’s book, “Oklahombres.” A registration fee of $10 may be paid at the door. Vendor tables are available. |
