Indians drop four summer league softball games

Lynetta Keller’s softball team ended an undefeated summer league run Monday with two losses to the Moore Lions. The Indians lost the first game 9-5 and the second 3-0.

“We just made a lot of mental errors,” head coach Lynetta Keller said.

“Defensively, it was all mental, throwing behind runners, making goofy throws to the infield. On top of that, we were not running bases smart.”

Coach Kevin Jumper said the loss was not as disappointing as the team’s poor play.

“Moore is a really good team. If we had played well and lost, I’d be fine with that, but we didn’t play very well,” he said.

On the heels of their first losses, the Indians dropped two games to the Mustang Broncos Tuesday in Mustang.

Bre Carpenter pitched all five innings of Tuesday’s opener with Mustang, striking out five batters while scattering three hits and walking four.

Summer Blackowl led the team in batting with a 1-for-1 effort at the plate. Her only hit was an RBI triple.

The effort was not enough to salvage the game for the Indians, who lost 4-3 to the Broncos.
