Blackwolf signs with Southwest ChristianBy Audrey Dodgen/Staff Writer El Reno senior Aubrey Blackwolf signed a letter of intent Friday with Southwest Christian University to play basketball for the Eagles. Southwest Christian coach Becky Mitchell said she was pleased with Blackwolf’s athleticism and her ball- handling skills. “She’s a really good athlete, has good skills and really knows the game,” she said. Mitchell said her relatively young team — five players are returning to the squad, all sophomores — can use their incoming freshmen and expect them to compete early for playing time. “Defense is our top priority, and Aubrey can handle her own. She’s also able to dribble and penetrate easily, which will help. Offensively, she can always work on her shooting and improve that, but she has the ability to be a starter,” she said. Blackwolf said she looks forward to spending time with her new team and finding a place where she can contribute. “I don’t know yet what I bring to the team. I think I bring some quickness and an ability to see the floor and shoot the 3-point shot, but I know there are areas I need to work on. I’m just excited to have the chance to play college ball,” she said. |
