Obituaries for Jan. 31, 2007Adler, Charles Douglas (paid) Doug was born to Col. James N. and Ruth O. Adler on Dec. 9, 1951, in Oklahoma City. As a young man, Doug was a loyal Boy Scout and at age 13, he became an Eagle Scout. Doug graduated from Northwest Classen High School in 1970 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force Reserves. He was honorably discharged in 1976. Doug attended the University of Oklahoma and graduated from Central State University in 1976 with a degree in accounting. In 1989, he received his master’s degree in business administration from Oklahoma City University. Doug’s 30-year career included jobs in banking and accounting. For the last several years, he worked at David W. Elshire, CPA. Doug married Nancy Lee Walker in Oklahoma City on Feb. 14, 1974. Their first child, Neill Douglas, was born March 31, 1977. Their second child, Mandie Leigh, was born June 22, 1979. Doug became a grandfather in 1998, with the birth of Isaac Douglas Adler. His second grandchild, Nathan David Adler, was born in 2002, and his third grandchild, William Davis Renner, was born in 2006. His grandchildren called him “Gran-Doug.” Doug is survived by Rev. Nancy Adler of Laverne; a son, Neill, and grandsons, Isaac and Nathan Adler of Austin, Texas; a daughter, Mandie, son-in-law, Mack, and grandson, Will Renner of Tulsa. Doug was preceded in death by his parents, James and Ruth Adler. Memorial services were held Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, at Central Presbyterian Church. Services were under direction of Vondel Smith Mortuary North, Oklahoma City. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Boy Scouts of America. Everette, Jeanette H. (paid) Mrs. Everett died Tuesday, Jan. 30, 2007, in El Reno. She was born March 29, 1930, to Charles and Nancy Horspool in Ogden, Utah. She married Fred Lee Everett on March 16, 1954, in Elko, Nev. They moved to Oklahoma in 1965. She was a member of the Mormon Church. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred Lee Everett; a son, Archie C. Everett; and granddaughter, Misty Everett. She is survived by a son, Fred W. Everett and wife, Peggy of Calumet; three daughters, Nancy Salsman and husband, Larry of Lookeba, Carolyn Cotten and husband, Richard of Bonham, Texas, and Deleane Mortensen of Oklahoma City; brother, Kenneth Horspool of Riverdale, Utah; eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has suggested memorials be made to El Reno Public Schools Foundation, P.O. Box 580, El Reno, Okla. 73036. Heaney, Arta Margaret (Bowle) (paid) Mrs. Heaney died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007, in her home. She was born March 24, 1920, in Eckert, Colo. Arta had lived in Colorado, then moved to Utah in 1951 and resided there until moving to Oklahoma in January 2006. She was a graduate of Delta High School in Colorado and received her bachelor’s degree from Colorado State College of Education. She was a member of the Wasatch Presbyterian Church and had served as an elder and deacon. She was also a member of El Reno First Presbyterian Church, Presbyterian Women, Presbyterian Mariners national officer, a member of P.E.O. Chapter R and the Mizpah chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star. Mrs. Heaney was a retired schoolteacher and preschool director. Survivors include her husband, Robert J. Heaney of the home; sons, Richard Heaney of Magnolia, Texas, and Rev. Dr. Mark Heaney of Yukon; a daughter, Ann Bernal of Chandler, Ariz.; sister, Beth Rupert of Palos Verde Estates, Calif.; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Lambert, Leota Mrs. Lambert died today at Grace Living Center. Murphy, Margaret A. (paid) Mrs. Murphy died Jan. 26, 2007, at the home of her son in Oklahoma City. She was born June 22, 1920, in Okarche. She married Jerry E. Murphy on Sept. 6, 1942. They traveled extensively during his military career. Jerry preceded her in death on July 26, 1976. Margaret returned to El Reno in 1982. She was a homemaker and member of Sacred Heart Church, Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Altar Society, VFW Auxiliary and Friends of Historic Fort Reno. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Frank A. and Elizabeth (Schlecht) Rother; a son, Tim Murphy; and four brothers, Franz, Bernard, Paul and Robert. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jerry and Brenda Murphy of Oklahoma City; a daughter and son-in-law, Martha and Paul Hang of National City, Mich.; daughter-in-law, Pam Murphy of Gainesville, Texas; brother, Louis Rother of Okarche; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Memorials may be made to St. Katharine Drexel Retirement Center, c/o Sacred Heart Church, 208 S. Evans, El Reno, Okla. 73036. |
