Obituaries for March 7, 2007Bowers, Minnie Mrs. Bowers died Tuesday at Sunset Estates Nursing Home. She was born Sept. 11, 1933. Blum, Harold Buchanan, Agnes (paid) Mrs. Buchanan died Monday at Midwest City Nursing Home. She was born Aug. 10, 1913, in Calumet. She was a longtime resident of El Reno and a homemaker. She is survived by a daughter, Pat Paylor and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City; brothers, Tom McEvoy of Piedmont and William McEvoy of El Reno; four grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Warren Buchanan, a daughter, Mary Ronspiez, and a grandson, Jay Paylor. Bushyhead, Robert Mr. Bushyhead died Saturday at his home in Edmond. He was born Feb. 12, 1932, in Geary. He was a graduate of El Reno High School and El Reno Junior College. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the Navy. He was a civil engineer and member of the Methodist church, as well as the Edmond Jaycees, serving as president in 1967 and 1968, Edmond Chamber of Commerce board of directors and a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Estelle Mayrhofen Bushyhead of the home; a daughter, Kathy Lane of Edmond; brothers, Victor Bushyhead of Newkirk and Henry Bushyhead of El Reno; and a sister, Emily Ramirez of El Reno. Collins, Clinton E. (paid) Mr. Collins died Monday at Oklahoma Heart Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1927, in Seminole. He moved to Union City in 1993. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and an oil field driller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Maudie McCowan Mercer; parents, Buford Morris and Minnie (King) Collins; a son, Clinton Collins Jr.; and daughters, Tina Collins and Myra Collins. He is survived by an adopted daughter, Kate Shilling of Bullhead City, Ariz.; brothers, James Yeager of El Reno, Morris Yeager and Glen Yeager; a sister, Mary Palmer of El Reno; granddaughters, Kristi Mercer and husband, Jason of Union City and Deedria Moss of Norman; and a great-grandson, Zackary Mercer. Cox, A.D. Mr. Cox died Tuesday at Sunset Estates Nursing Home. He was born Jan. 15, 1914. Crooks, Charles Mr. Crooks died Tuesday at Grace Living Center. He was born Jan. 28, 1927. Handley, Fletcher Sr. Mr. Handley died today at Grace Living Center. He was born Jan. 30, 1916. McGarvin, Zemra Christine (paid) Zemra graduated from Clinton High School and attended Fort Worth Business School. She worked for Swift and Company for 43 years and retired to El Reno in 1975. She was a member of First Baptist Church. She enjoyed crossword puzzles and knitting, and most of all she enjoyed her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Adrian L. McGarvin. She is survived by her nephews, Gerald L. McGarvin and wife, Betty and family, and Wendell L. McGarvin and family; a niece, Carol Sylvester and family; and numerous grand- and great-grand-nieces and nephews. Services were held in the Wilson Funeral Home chapel on Saturday, March 3, 2007. The family thanks the staff at Cimarron Nursing Home for their care of Zemra in her time of need. Zemra was loved by all she knew, she smiled the whole day through. We shall miss her bright smile and all her loving ways, but will try to live for Jesus and meet her again at the end of our days. Murphy, Alice Mrs. Murphy died Thursday at her home in El Reno. She was born Jan. 10, 1933, in Bloomington, Ill. She had lived in El Reno for two years. She was a homemaker and seamstress. She is survived by a daughter, Pam Branson of El Reno; brother, Jerry Phillips of Troy, Wis.; sisters, Wanda Osborne of Rochelle, Ill., and Louise Kellerhals of Gridley, Ill.; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Sleeper, Kira Kira was stillborn on Saturday at Canadian Valley Regional Hospital in Yukon. She is survived by her parents, Alanna Kay Stone and Aaron Sleeper of El Reno; grandparents, Fred Stone and Ida Island, Pamala Sleeper Alexander and Rodney Candyfire, all of El Reno; great-grandmother, Reda Pawnee of El Reno. Smeal, JoAnn (paid) Mrs. Smeal died Friday at OU Medical Center. She was born Nov. 18, 1954, in Wichita, Kan. She was a lifetime Canadian County area resident. She was a graduate of Union City High School and attended Redlands Community College. She was employed as a truck driver. She is survived by her husband, James Smeal of the home; brothers, David Jones of Oklahoma City, David Sisk of Macon, Ga., and Paul Sisk of Talihina; sisters, Nancy Blackburn of Union City, Pearl Smart of Edmond and Elissa Smith of Baker, La.
