Obituaries for March 23, 2008Ayers, Emsley Elcaney Jr. (paid> Emsley Elcaney Ayers Jr. was born April 3, 1925, in Calumet to Emsley and Nellie Ayers. As the youngest of nine children, he learned strong family values at a young age. Emsley, known to most everyone as Junior, was devoted to his family and friends. Known for his spirited sense of humor and bright personality, he was loved by everyone he knew. He has left us with great memories of playing guitar, having sing-alongs well into the night and the witty nicknames he had for everyone. Just as devoted as he was to his family, he was also devoted to his pets. It seems he owned almost every kind of animal at one time or another. In fact, one of his favorite things to do was share a cupcake with his favorite “granddog,” Bosco, who came to see him often. He was a skilled carpenter, building and remodeling houses, although his specialty was the beautiful cabinets he built. It was his trade earlier in life, but he always enjoyed crafting special pieces for his loved ones. Emsley went to be with the Lord on March 19, 2008, at Parkview Hospital. He lived a life of love and laughter and has left us with many memories to cherish. His family rejoices in knowing that we will see him again one day. Barger, Sheldon Ray (paid) He lived in a dozen states while younger, traveling with his family while his father worked as a seismographer with an oil company. He was an honors student while attending El Reno High School, graduating a year early as a junior. When Sheldon was 16 years old, he prayed to God and received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. He served 11 years in the Navy. He loved to hunt and fish, and enjoyed tinkering in his workshop. In recent years, Sheldon attended the University of Oklahoma, receiving his bachelor’s degree in business administration in 2007. At the time of his death, he was working for ALPLA in Jefferson City, Mo., an international plastics manufacturing company, as plant maintenance supervisor. Graveside services were held March 20, 2008, at Mount Hope Cemetery in Guthrie, with Rev. Glen Chapman officiating. Sheldon is survived by his parents, Fran and Carroll Barger; two sisters, Leava Major and husband, Jeff, and Levitta Rogers, all of El Reno. He is also survived by his nephew, Justin and wife, Tonya Kirkland of Hannibal, Mo., and his niece, Molly Major of El Reno, as well as many dear friends and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Great Commission Missions, P.O. Box 758, El Reno, Okla. 73036. Rounds, Dewey Wilson (paid> Dewey retired from the American Hereford Association after serving for over 26 years. He enjoyed hunting and woodworking, was a member of the Freemasons, and was an alumnus of the Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity. He was proud of his two sons, Mike and Elliott, but was especially proud of his four grandchildren. He enjoyed life to the fullest and had a very strong will to live. Dewey had a great sense of humor that remained with him until his death. There are not enough words to ever describe Dewey as a man, husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle or friend. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He was a friend of Bill W. for over 16 years. Dewey was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Wanda Lee Potts. Dewey is survived by his loving wife, Voni; sons, Mike Rounds (wife, Susan) of Las Vegas, Nev., and Elliott Rounds of Stillwater; stepdaughter, Beth Filippo (husband, Mike) of Austin, Texas; grandchildren, Bryce and Grace Rounds and Lauren and Colin Filippo; sister, Jo Cleta Golden of Oklahoma City; nephews and nieces, Nancy Browne, Keith Golden, Ken Potts, Steven Potts and Pam Roberts, and a special thanks to niece, Mary Thompson. A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, March 24, 2008, at First United Methodist Church in Anadarko. A private burial will be held at Center Point Cemetery in Aledo. Services are under direction of Smith Funeral Home, Anadarko. |
