Barton, Betty Jane (paid)

Graveside internment for Betty Jane Barton of El Reno was held Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the El Reno Cemetery. Memorial services followed on Saturday at First Baptist Church with Rev. Jerry Woodall officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Betty passed away on Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Parkview Hospital. She was born May 21, 1920, in Granite. Betty Jane Briggs married Woodrow Barton on July 27, 1940, in Moorewood. Betty was a graduate of Granite High School. She attended college at Southwestern Oklahoma State Teachers College in Weatherford. Betty came to El Reno in 1946. She had worked for Canadian County in the county superintendent’s office and in the court clerk’s office. She was a member of First Baptist Church and had worked in the church nursery for many years. She was a participant in Bosom Buddies as a cancer survivor. She was well known for her banana nut bread.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Bonnie Lee (Evans) Briggs; husband, Woodrow Barton; daughter, Jane Ann Barton; sister, Francis Littlejohn; brother, George Briggs; and great-granddaughter, Kaylee Marie Morrison.

Survivors include her son, Donald L. Barton and wife, Betty Ann of Yukon; daughter, Mrs. Kay Morrison and husband, Ernest of Montgomery, Texas; brother, Jack Briggs and wife, Dee of Houston; five grandchildren, James Morrison and wife, Michelle of Spring, Texas, Jane Ann Sheridan and husband, Donal of Sugar Land, Texas, Ronald Morrison and wife, Teloria of Cypress, Texas, Melissa Grant and husband, Shawn of Pineville, La., and Ben Barton and wife, Melinda of Yukon; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Borchers, Velma
Funeral services for Velma Borchers of El Reno are pending with Wilson Funeral Home. Mrs. Borchers died Friday at her home.

McWethy, Fred K.
Funeral services for Fred K. McWethy will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Yanda and Son Funeral Home with burial in the Memory Lane Cemetery in Anadarko.

Mr. McWethy, 81, died Friday in El Reno.

Overholser, C.J. (paid)
Graveside services for C.J. Overholser of El Reno were held Saturday, May 10, 2008, in the El Reno Cemetery with Rev. Al Dorrough and Rev. Greg Zoschak officiating. Services were under direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

C.J. passed away Wednesday, May 7, 2008, at Parkview Hospital. He was born May 31, 1933, in Limon, Colo. Mr. Overholser had served in the U.S. Army. C.J. married Mary Lou (Price) on May 12, 1953, in El Reno. He had worked for the Rock Island Railroad for 32 years and then went to work at C.M.I. where he was a supervisor when he retired. He was a member of the American Legion and the Rock of Restoration Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Chester J. Sr. and Orva (Ester) Overholser, and a sister, Dixie Walker.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Overholser of the home; a son, Teddy Joe Overholser and wife, Susan of El Reno; a daughter, Patricia Coats of El Reno; sisters, Hazel Smith and husband, Al of Wichita, Kan., and Chrystal Schwab and husband, Glenn of Del City; brother, Jerry Overholser and wife, Barbara of El Reno; grandchildren, Sarah and Carl Overholser of El Reno; many nieces and nephews and great friends; and a dog, Bo.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Center Association at Baptist Hospital or the Rock of Restoration Church.

Wetselline, Henry Allen
Henry Allen Wetselline was born Feb. 23, 1985, to Philip and Elaine (Kodaseet) Wetselline in Roosevelt, Utah. Henry passed away on May 4, 2008, in Oklahoma City at the age of 23. Henry graduated from Shawnee High School in 2003 and enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He spent four years active duty at San Diego, Calif., stationed at Miramar, and spent an eight-month tour of duty in Al Taqaddum, Iraq. When honorably discharged from active duty in July 2007, he was ranked a corporal and had earned the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal, the United States Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, Iraq Campaign Medal, Iraq Medal, Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, and the National Defense Service Medal, USMC letter and certificate of appreciation, and Expert Rifle Badge.

He was married to Raceen Butler on Aug. 25, 2006, in McLoud. He resided in Oklahoma City with his wife, Raceen, and daughter, Aurelia, and was attending Oklahoma City Community College where he was majoring in psychology. While attending school he discovered that he really had an interest in psychology. Henry was the type of person that always put his family and friends first, and he was very protective of them, especially his brother and sisters, Jon, Dana and Charlotte. He could put a smile on anyone’s face no matter the situation. He was always very dependable and believed that you were only as good as your word, in believing this he always kept his word. He was enrolled with the Apache Tribe as well as Cheyenne Arapaho Tribe of Oklahoma. He was a very respectable son, a loving brother, a devoted husband and a wonderful father. He will be missed by so many.

Survivors include his wife, Raceen Wetselline, and daughter, Aurelia Lyn of the home; his mother, Elaine Marie Matanane and stepfather, Juan Matanane of Shawnee; his father, Philip Allen Wetselline of Carnegie; grandmother, Charlotte Lumpmouth of Geary; grandfather, Gary Kodaseet of Oklahoma City; grandmother, Iris Walker of Anadarko; sisters, Charlotte Wetselline-Pollard of Moore and Dana Matanane of Shawnee; a brother, Jon Matanane of Shawnee; niece, Erika Pollard and nephew, Elijah Pollard of Moore; aunts, Francine Williams of El Reno, Teresa Murray of Geary, Darla Kennedy, Mona Wetselline, Katherine Walker and Cheryl Wetselline of Anadarko; uncles, Mike Kodaseet, Kevin Kodaseet, Gordon Wetselline and Scott Walker; as well as numerous cousins, other relatives and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his great-grandparents, Frank and Katherine Nina Kodaseet; great-grandparents, Henry and Susie Wetselline; grandfather, Glenn Walker; great-grandparents, Jimmy D. Lumpmouth and Flora Geary; two cousins, Zachery Two Lances Kodaseet and Frank Anthony Williams.

An all-night wake service was held at Glorietta Baptist Church, Oklahoma City, on Thursday, May 8, 2008. Funeral services were held at Glorietta Baptist Church on Friday, May 9, 2008, with Rev. Emerson Falls and Rev. Marilyn Bread officiating. Burial was in the Lumpmouth Family Cemetery in Geary. Services were under direction of Turner Funeral Home, Geary.
