Obituaries for August 16, 2006Abbe, David Mr. Abbe died Monday. He was born July 17, 1958, in Gainesville, Texas. He had been living in El Reno for the last 13 years, coming from Duncan. He was employed with L&O Pump Company of Oklahoma City for the last nine years. He is survived by a daughter, Ashley Abbe of Yukon; his parents, Leon and Peggy Abbe of Yukon; and three grandchildren. Barton, Woodrow (paid) Woodrow married Betty Jane Briggs on July 27, 1940, in Moorewood. They moved to El Reno in 1946 following Woodrow’s honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy in which he served during World War II. He began his teaching career in the El Reno Public School System in 1946. Woodrow taught industrial arts and vocational training, retiring in 1980. He also had taught night classes at the El Reno Reformatory from the late 1940s through the 1970s. He was a member of First Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. Woodrow was also a member of the Oklahoma Teachers Association and the American Legion. He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Jane Ann Barton; brothers, Austin, Earl, Tilford, Darrell and Dewey Barton; a sister, Marguerite McAfee; and a great-granddaughter, Kaylee Morrison. Survivors include his wife, Betty Jane of the home; a son, Donald L. Barton and wife, Betty Ann of Yukon; a daughter, Kay Morrison and husband, Ernest of Montgomery, Texas; grandchildren, James Morrison and wife, Michelle of Spring, Texas, Jane Ann Sheridan and husband, Donal of Sugar Land, Texas, Ronald Morrison and wife, Teloria of Cypress, Texas, Melissa Grant and husband, Shawn of Apple Valley, Calif., and Ben Barton and wife, Melinda of Oklahoma City; and 14 great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at the El Reno Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17 at First Baptist Church with Rev. John V. Chennault officiating. Services are under direction of Wilson Funeral Home. WhiteCloud, Carolyn Hancock Mrs. WhiteCloud died Aug. 12, 2006, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Sept. 21, 1949, in Oklahoma City. She was a lifelong resident of El Reno. She was an administrative assistant to the director of Indian Health Services and member of First Baptist Church and Native American Church. She was preceded in death by her mother, Gladys Lumpmouth Hancock, and a brother, Lee Pedro. She is survived by a son, Michael WhiteCloud and wife, Erica of El Reno; her father, Solomon Hancock of El Reno; grandchildren, Mikah and Jaida; adopted sons, Emmett Redbird Jr. of Norman and Kenneth Cozad and Howard Cozad, both of Anadarko; a brother, Virgil Pedro of El Reno; sisters, Yvonne Wilson of Concho and Frances Warrior of Ponca City; uncles, Marshall Lumpmouth and wife, Wynona, and John Shafer and wife, Delores; aunts, Bertha Lamebull, Ruby Tiger, Joyce Martinez, Lucille Jamison, Jean Cameron, Virginia Sam and Jerlene Hancock; and Indian friends, Margaret Ahhaity, Jean Grant, Sis Bosin and Terry Smith. |
