Obituaries for October 17, 2007Jenkins, Eldra Lee (paid) Mrs. Jenkins died Oct. 12, 2007, at Integris Baptist Medical Center in Oklahoma City. She was born Oct. 21, 1942, in Wetumka. She was a longtime resident of El Reno and a homemaker. She was a member of Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church and an honorary member of Women’s Missionary Society. She was preceded in death by her parents, James and Pearlie Mae (Cummings) Berry; a son, Rayfield Tyrone Jenkins; and brothers, Robert “Rip” Berry and D.C. “Bump” Berry. She is survived by her husband, Frank Jenkins Sr. of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Deangelo and Lynnette Jenkins of El Reno and Frank Jr. and Myra Jenkins of El Reno; daughters and son-in-law, Janet Berry and Kamala Jenkins, both of Oklahoma City, and Lee Eldra and Melvin Lovings of Jones; brothers, Cleatus Berry and O.T. Johnson, both of Oklahoma City, and Arthur “Rudy” Berry of Wetumka; sisters, Gertie Armstrong of Spencer, Edna Jean Matts of Ponca City and Joyce Sneed of Los Angeles, Calif.; and her loving grandchildren. Laub, Laureta E. (paid) Mrs. Laub died Oct. 13, 2007, at Cimarron Nursing Center in Kingfisher. She was born Aug. 28, 1914, in Calumet. She was a lifelong resident of Calumet. She taught at Holy Trinity School in Okarche and the rural schools, Corner Door, Pleasant Home and Enterprise. After retiring, she obtained her master’s degree in special education and tutored students. She was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Altar Society and Home Extension. She married John A. Laub on Nov. 2, 1938. He preceded her in death on Sept. 10, 1988. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Lee and Elizabeth (Carson) Jensen. She is survived by a son, Bill Laub and wife, Judy of Sulphur Springs, Texas; grandchildren, Patrick Laub and wife, Jennifer, and Christopher Neal and wife, Michelle; and great-grandchildren, Kayla and Hunter. Sestak, Richard Ernest (paid) Richard, a longtime Prague resident, was the son of Ernest and Anna (Klabzuba) Sestak. He attended Fairview School and graduated from Prague High School with the class of 1952 where he was a FFA member, serving as chapter president and receiving the Junior Master Farmers Degree. In 1957, he graduated from Oklahoma State University with a bachelor’s of science degree in animal science and received a master’s of science degree in agriculture education in 1965. Richard proudly served his country in the U.S. Army, 72nd Medical Detachment, VFI in Germany from 1957 to 1960. He married Valdene May Kozel on March 23, 1963, in Shawnee. Richard worked for the Oklahoma State University Cooperative Extension Service for 29 years. He served as an assistant county agent in Nowata and Pottawatomie counties, and county agricultural agent and county extension director in Jefferson and Canadian counties. He retired from the Oklahoma Cooperative Extension Service in 1990. Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Valdene Sestak of the home; sons and daughters-in-law, Ross and Krista Sestak of Prague and Robert and Stacey Sestak of Broken Arrow; six grandchildren, Jarrod, Jacob and Lilyana Sestak of Prague and Brady, Alyxandra and Jack Sestak of Broken Arrow. Funeral services were held on Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2007, at First Baptist Church in Prague with Brother Tim Emmons officiating. Interment followed at the Czech National Cemetery in Prague. Simpson, Vincent Francis (paid) Vince was born Jan. 1, 1964, in Okarche, the son of Gooder and Virginia (Rother) Simpson. He graduated from Piedmont High School in 1982 and from OSU with a degree in mechanical engineering in 1988. He was commissioned second lieutenant in the U.S. Marine Corps in 1989 and served in the Gulf War from November 1990 to May 1991 as a communications officer. He participated in the Bangladesh humanitarian effort in 1991 and later was a communications officer at Camp Pendleton, Calif. He was transferred from active duty to reserve in 1991, holding the rank of captain at his discharge. He was employed by CMI for nine years as a project engineer. He was a member of Holy Trinity Church, serving on the Parish Council and the Lions Club. On March 17, 1990, Vince married Toni Lynn Donaldson. Toni survives him in death. He is also survived by sons, Stewart Mitchell Simpson and Samuel Paul Simpson; sisters, Theresa Schulte and Mary Nell Brueggen; brothers, Mark Simpson, Robert Simpson and John Mike Simpson; 14 nieces and nephews. |
