Degand, Ruth
Funeral services for former El Reno resident Ruth Neoma Degand were held Saturday at Charlie Marshall Funeral Home Chapel in Rockport, Texas, with burial in Rockport Cemetery.
Mrs. Degand died Wednesday.

She was born Feb. 11, 1924, in New Albany, Kan. She lived in El Reno for many years before moving to Rockport in 1979. She was a former president of the Rockport AARP chapter as well as the Woman’s Club of Aransas County. She was also a member of ACSMI.

Survivors include two sons, Don of Woodward and Richard of Victoria, Texas; a sister, Nellie Oliphant of Chanate, Kan.; three grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

Hadley, LaVerne
Funeral services for LaVerne “Mico” Country Hadley were held Saturday at Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. George Akeen officiating. Burial was in Concho Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Hadley died Tuesday at an Oklahoma City hospital.
She was born Oct. 6, 1948, in Omaha, Neb., and moved to El Reno from Macy, Neb., in 2003. She was a member of the Catholic church.

Survivors include her husband, Joseph Hadley Jr.; two daughters, Isisidra Palacios and Florine Proper of Macy; a sister, Carrie Moore House of Macy; and two grandchildren.

Handke, Bobby
Funeral services with military honors for Bobby Duane Handke will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Benson Memorial Chapel with Rev. Paul Roach officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Handke died Wednesday in an Oklahoma City hospital.
He was born June 29, 1942, in Oklahoma City and came to El Reno in 1982. He was a Navy veteran and a lab technician for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Survivors include his wife, Dollie Ruth (Macy) Handke; a son, Leland Handke; his mother, Norma Keuter of Kizer, Ore.; a brother, John Gilleland of Portland, Ore.; and a sister, Norma Williams of El Reno.

Hatter, Jayden Joel (cite)
Services for Jayden Joel Hatter, 8 pounds, 6 ounces, were held Saturday, Nov. 9, at Resthaven Chapel in Wichita, Kan.
He was born at Via Christi Regional Medical Center — St. Joseph in Wichita on Wednesday to Kinzie Bayhylle and Brian Joel Hatter. Angels bore him home on Wednesday from St. Joseph.

Arrangements were under the directions of Resthaven Mortuary with burial at Wichita.

Jayden is survived by his parents, Brian and Kinzie of Wichita; his grandparents, Ellen Bayhylle of Andover, Kan., Geoffrey Bayhylle of Perkins, Robert Hatter and Julie and Jeff Nunn, all of Wichita; great-grandparents, Myron and Joyce Bayhylle of Perkins and Garland and Dorothea Paulk, both of Calumet.

Jayden is greatly missed by his aunts and uncles: Katelynn Bayhylle of Andover, Christi Forrester and Becca Hutchinson of Belle Plaine, Kan., Kristi Bansamer of Derby, Kan., Kendra Pryor and Robin Crenshaw, both of Wichita, Christopher and Brady Hatter of Wichita and Jerod Rose of Ohio.

Nichols, Carol
Services for Carol Joann (Griffith) Nichols will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Benson Memorial Chapel with burial in Canadian Valley Cemetery at Calumet. Arrangements are under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mrs. Nichols died Monday at her home in Hemet, Calif.
She was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Calumet. She attended Calumet High School and graduated from there in 1956. She attended Blackwood-Bates School of Business in Oklahoma City where she received her secretarial degree. She and James Edward Martin were married Dec. 13, 1958, and his Navy career took them to California. They divorced in 1979. She and Thomas Nichols were married Nov. 9, 1990. She enjoyed playing basketball and sang with a quartet in high school. She was a self-taught piano player and loved to sing. She served as adviser for the youth group at the United Church of Christ in California and headed a square dance group called the Young Americans, in which her children participated.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas; two sons, Rodger Martin of Hemet and Kelly Martin of Fritch, Texas; a daughter, Vicky Raysby of Springfield, S.D.; three brothers, Everette Griffith of Bethany, Delbert Griffith of Wichita, Kansas, and Dean Griffith of Amber; two sisters, Hazel of Midwest City and Christine of Bethany.

Petty, Wayne
Services for Wayne Franklin Petty will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church in Kingfisher with Rev. Michael Strange officiating. Burial will be in Kingfisher Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home.

Mr. Petty died Wednesday at a Norman hospital.
He was born Feb. 14, 1938, in Kingfisher and was raised in the Okarche area. He attended Okarche schools, participating in 4-H in grade school and FFA in high school, graduating from Okarche High School.

Survivors include two brothers, Max Petty of Okarche and Kent Petty of Lawton; and two sisters, Wanda Petty Willms of Kingfisher and Brenda Petty Toms of Broken Arrow.

Westerman, Jerry Wayne (paid)
Memorial services for Jerry Wayne Westerman of El Reno will be 3 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, 2007, at Faith Family Church with Rev. Paul Roach, pastor, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Wilson Funeral Home.

Mr. Westerman died Saturday, Nov. 3, 2007, at his home. He was born Nov. 2, 1949, in Corpus Christi, Texas. Jerry was a longtime El Reno area resident. He was a roustabout with Best Oilfield Service.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arlin Dale Westerman.
Survivors include his wife, Angie Jean (Ruoff) Westerman of the home; son, Cody Westerman of El Reno; a brother, Jimmy Westerman of Graham, Texas; two sisters, Sharon Berg of Hutchison, Kansas, and Linda Armstrong of Graham; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Wilhoit, Nina
Funeral services for Nina Bernice Wilhoit were held Friday at First Baptist Church in Geary with Rev. Howard Head officiating. Burial was in Geary Cemetery under the direction of Turner Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilhoit died Wednesday.

She was born March 21, 1937, in Geary and lived in the area most of her life, attending Geary schools. She and Wilson “Hoot” Wilhoit were married Jan. 24, 1964, in Geary. They lived in Watonga and Chickasha for a short time, and she was residing in El Reno at the time of her death. She loved going to garage sales, Wal-Mart and dollar stores. She also enjoyed camping and the outdoors.

Survivors include a daughter, Doris Keel of Poteet, Texas; two sons, Wilson Wilhoit Jr. of Okarche and Danny Chambless of Jacksboro, Texas; two brothers, Freeman Pedigo of Geary and Earl “Pug” Pedigo of Ratliff City; and three grandchildren.

Wilson, Florene
Funeral services for Florene Wilson, 87, were held Saturday at Mount Moriah Baptist Church with Elder C.W. Bradley officiating. Burial was in El Reno Cemetery under the direction of Russworm Funeral Home.

Mrs. Wilson died Nov. 4 at Parkview Hospital.

She was born Feb. 5, 1919, in Okmulgee. She attended Booker T. Washington School. At age 12, she joined Sunrise Missionary Baptist Church, and in 1950, she joined the Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. She moved to Casa Grande, Ariz., in 1952. She and Joe Wilson were married Aug. 19, 1953, and they moved to Dallas, where they were members of Fourth Street Church of God in Christ for 17 years. She lived in Dallas until her husband died in 1995. She moved to El Reno and later joined Faith Temple Church of God in Christ, where she served as Sunday school superintendent and as president of Pastors Aid.

Survivors include her brother, George, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Youngbull, Lucille
Funeral services for Lucille Iris Youngbull, 81, of Elk City were held Friday in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Clinton with Bishop Keith Riechmann officiating. Burial was in Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home in Clinton.

Mrs. Youngbull died Monday at her home in Elk City.

She was born Feb. 10, 1926, in Hammon. She grew up in the Hammon area and attended school there. She went on to Enid where she became a licensed practical nurse. She and John Youngbull were married in 1947. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and was also active in Indian community affairs, helping with young people and the Christmas Na Wah Numshins.

Survivors include five daughters, Katherine, Mary Lou, Jonni Sue, Laura Lee and Donna Youngbull-Adachi; three sons, Edmond, John Tyler II and Randy; 36 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.
