Obituaries for Nov. 12, 2006Hoosier, Brenda Dorrough (paid) Brenda passed from this life into her eternal home in Heaven on Nov. 5, 2006, at Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City where she was employed as a registered nurse. She was born August 12, 1952, in Fort Bragg, N.C., to Al and Juanita (Dicks) Dorrough. Brenda served God and her fellow man as a bedside nurse for over 20 years, 13 of which were in obstetrics at Parkview Hospital. She was devoted to her calling and served well. She graduated from Grayson Community College in Whitesboro, Texas, receiving her associate in business degree and from Redlands Community College in El Reno receiving her associate in nursing degree. She was attending Bethany Nazarene School of Nursing and was only three weeks from receiving her bachelor’s degree in science and nursing. She was a member of First Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher. Survivors include her daughters, Katie Hoosier of the home in El Reno and Lorena Taylor of Oklahoma City; sons, Chris Taylor and his wife, Barbara, of El Reno and Matthew Taylor, also of El Reno; brothers, David Dorrough of Del City and Audie Dorrough and his wife, Lori, of Duncan. Also, grandson, Michael Taylor of El Reno; three granddaughters, Morgan Taylor of Oklahoma City, Amber and Shauna Taylor of Union City; her niece and nephews, Brandi Scott and her husband, Brian, Aaron Dorrough and his wife, Sydney, Dustin Dorrough and his wife, Nina, and David Dorrough Jr. Memorials may be made to Blessing Baskets, P. Ottis, Florence Ann (paid) Burial will be in Holy Trinity Cemetery under the direction of Huber-Benson Funeral Home. Mrs. Ottis was born Aug. 26, 1919, in Okarche. She died Nov. 9, 2006, at Victorian Estates in Yukon. She was a graduate of Holy Trinity High School. A homemaker, she was a member of Holy Trinity Church and Altar Society. She married James M. Ottis on Dec. 30, 1941. They made their home in West Columbia, Texas, from 1941 until 1949 when they returned to Okarche. He preceded her in death on March 5, 1994. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Rose (Baustert) Brueggen, three brothers and a sister. Survivors include three daughters, Elaine Meyer and husband, Gerald, of Calumet, Vicki Hoebing and husband, Paul, of Okarche and Kathy Ottis of Yukon; a sister, Alice Panter of Norman; three grandchildren, Jamie Perkins and husband, Tim, Jerry Meyer, Randy Meyer and wife, Robin; and four great-grandchildren. Potts, Charles (paid) Mr. Potts died Friday, Nov. 10, 2006, in Kindred Hospital in Oklahoma City. He was born on Jan. 8, 1918, in Purcell, Okla. Charles had lived in Shawnee and Purcell, then in 1942 made his home in El Reno where he has resided since. He was a graduate of Shawnee High School. He married Azilee Plunckett on Oct. 1, 1943, in Fort Smith, Ark. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the VFW Post 382, a 50-year member of the American Legion Post No. 34, The Woodman’s and the AARP. Charles was a retired carman helper with the Rock Island Railroad. He loved working with wood to make yard decorations and loved to fish. He was preceded in death by his parents Elmer and Lillie (White) Potts, wife, Azilee Potts; three brothers, Ty, Bud and Wilbur Potts and a sister, Katherine Worthington. Survivors include two sons, Roy Potts and his wife, Laveta of El Reno, Ricky Potts and his wife, Rosa of Union City, Okla.; two grandchildren, Michelle Ferguson and husband, Tim of Huntsville, Ala., Stephanie Eggers and husband, Neal of Rosamond, Calif.; two great-grandchildren, Cirra Hirst of Huntsville, Ala., and Bethany Hirst of El Reno; numerous other relatives and friends. |
