There will be scores of railroad people in El Reno next Saturday for the annual National Association of Retired and Veteran Railway Employees Railroaders Day, which will be held at the 4-H building, 220 N. Country Club Road.

“We’ve been holding the dinner for several years,” said NARVRE president Bill Webb.

“We’ll have people from all over the country, usually from four or five states, including Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, come to the dinner, and I think this year we’ll have a man from California,” Webb said.

John Higdon, the organization’s legislative representative, said the group represents retired railroad workers.

“It’s for anyone who has worked or is working for a railroad company. We include people from all different crafts,” Higdon said.

He said NARVRE held the dinner at the depot in El Reno for several years but switched to the educational building at the fairgrounds when it outgrew the depot.
