Indian softball rolls past Weatherford

Freshman pitcher Chelsea Jones turned in a dominant performance against Weather-ford Tuesday evening to help lift El Reno to a 5-1 victory.

Just one day after senior Katie Raines blanked Noble with a 4-0 shutout win, Jones was just as impressive against the Eagles.

Jones recorded 12 strikeouts and allowed just three hits. Weatherford’s lone run, during the sixth, came on a throwing error and was unearned. Jones improved to 9-5 on the season.
The Class 5A, No.11 Indians, now 18-10 on the season, were equally productive with the bats. They collected nine hits and built a comfortable 5-0 lead after back-to-back RBI doubles during the fourth inning.

Angelique Johnson led off the fourth with a single and would later cross home plate on a double to deep center field by freshman Maddie Stein.

Jones then followed with a double down the third-base line to drive in senior Emily Holbrook, who was running for Stein.
Summer Blackowl singled and scored to put the Indians on the scoreboard during the second inning.
