El Reno picked up its second win of the season in volleyball on Monday evening against Union City at Jenks Simmons Field House.

The Indians took three of four games against the Tigers. EHS dropped the opening game 25-16, but stormed back with three straight wins — 25-13, 25-16 and 25-22.

El Reno’s last victory came during the first week of the season in August against Deer Creek.

It was during the fourth game where the Indians overcame some adversity to nail down the match victory. El Reno trailed at one point 15-9 but was able to overcome the deficit and tie the score at 20-20 before holding on.

“I thought we adjusted very well in that fourth game,” said El Reno head coach Kristen Reeves. “Instead of getting down on ourselves, we hung in there and battled back.”

Senior Whitney Jacobs led the Indians with 17 points off serves, including four aces. Senior Crystal Bell followed with 16 points, while Ginger Hugart added 13 points and Erica Halley followed with 11. Hughart had two aces, while Kenzie Ruston and Tori Banks had one each.

Bell led in completed attacks with 15. Bell also had a team-high eight kills. Jacobs had 12 attacks, three kills and one block. Ruston finished with nine attacks, Banks and Halley had six apiece, and Hughart ended with three.
